POLICE are appealing for information and witnesses after a man was assaulted in Letchworth GC on Christmas Eve.

The incident took place at around 7.45pm in Eastcheap. The victim was walking along the road when it is alleged he was approached by three men who assaulted him, causing him to fall to the floor and suffer injuries.

The victim, a man in his 30s from Letchworth GC, suffered slight cuts and bruising to his head and a broken leg which required hospital treatment.

Dc Joanne Nicholson said: "I would like to appeal to anyone who was in Eastcheap at approximately 7.45pm and believes they witnessed the assault, or anyone who saw an altercation in The Arena Tavern earlier in the evening at around 6pm, to contact police.

"If you can help, please call me via the non-emergency number on 0845 33 00 222. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, on 0800 555 111."

Police have arrested a 62 year old man from Letchworth GC, a 30 year old man from Hitchin and a 37 year old from Letchworth GC on suspicion of assault. The have been released on police bail whilst enquiries continue.
