A MAN was punched in the face and his money stolen in an incident in Hitchin in the early hours of this morning (Friday).
The victim, a 51-year-old from Hitchin, had just taken a sum of money out from the cashpoint at Redhill Road shops, and was walking towards Westmill Road when he was approached from behind by a man who punched him.
The offender also made off with the victim’s wallet, which contained the man’s driving licence and the cash he had just withdrawn.
The victim suffered slight injuries to his nose as a result of the attack.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the incident, which occurred at around 3.55am. The suspect is described as a white man, 5ft 5in tall and of slim build. He spoke with a local accent.
