A FIRE left a man needing medical treatment.

Now police are appealing for information and witnesses as they search for the person who caused the blaze.

The incident happened at some time before midnight on Wednesday (April 22) in Chaucer Way, Hitchin.

The fire is believed to have begun at a ground floor property and spread to an adjoining property, the home of a 50-year-old man who was treated for smoke inhalation. Other close neighbours were evacuated but no one else was injured.

Inspector Neil Spencer said: "We would like to speak to anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the vicinity of Chaucer Way before or after this incident.
