POLICE are appealing for the public's help following an unprovoked attack on a 14-year-old boy.

The victim was walking with friends by the lake in Fairlands Valley Park, Stevenage, at just after 5pm on Wednesday, September 6, when he was approached by a group of three boys.

They threatened the victim and as he tried to run away they ran after him and hit him repeatedly before making off with his mobile phone.

Bill Hughes, an investigator with the eastern area robbery unit, said: "This was an unprovoked and quite violent attack on a boy who was out enjoying an afternoon with friends.

"If anyone saw this robbery happen or has any information about who the three offenders are, I would ask them to contact me straight away."

One offender was white, about 14 years old of slim build, around 5ft 5in tall with flat brown hair.

He was wearing a vest top and navy blue jogging bottoms and was carrying a black puma rucksack.

The second is white, aged 15 or 16, of slim build, about 5ft 10in tall.

He was wearing a blue baseball cap with the symbol 'NY' on it, a stripy T-shirt and jogging bottoms.

The third offender is white, about 18 years old, of muscular build, around 5ft 9 inches tall with short, brown spiky hair. He was wearing jeans and had no top on.
