POLICE put out an appeal this morning (Tuesday) for witnesses and information following an assault in Stevenage in the early hours of Sunday.
The incident took place in Chicago Rock Caf� on the leisure park at just after 12.35am.
It is believed a man, who was wearing a blue and white chequered cowboy-style shirt, was punched in the face by a white man at the edge of the dance floor.
This caused the victim to fall to the floor. He suffered injuries to his face and was taken to Lister Hospital for treatment.
Detective constable Matt Creese, investigating, said: "This incident took place in a busy club and I am confident there would have been people who witnessed it.
"If you believe you have information about this incident I would strongly urge you to call me via the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222 citing crime reference number E1/09/7418. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111."
A 26-year-old man from Stevenage was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail.
