Boro boss Graham Westley expects his players to come back to pre-season training having maintained a certain level of fitness over the summer break.

Fitness coach Neil Withington devised individual training programmes for each member of the Boro squad before they went on their holidays and Westley believes each man will have adhered to their own regime.

"They have all been working hard and I would be surprised if they are not fit," Westley told The Comet. "They will all come back in different conditions although all of them have been doing some good work throughout the summer.

"Obviously it's then a case of getting match fit which is different. We will be looking to work on the technical side of things and general team play.

"Pre-season games give you the chance to sharpen those aspects of your game and that's what we will be looking to do."

Westley admitted he can't wait to get back into the swing of season although admitted to feeling that, in some ways, he feels like he has never been away.
