Social media opened up yesterday with reports that a sinkhole had appeared in Stevenage Old Town.
The hole, which was reported to be some four metres wide, was spotted by passers by next to the offices of MIAB insurance in Walkern Road.
The cause of the opening is as yet unknown, but is being investigated.
The Comet understands it is not likely to swallow any buildings, humans or vehicles, but we will keep you posted.
