A WOMAN died after falling from a multi-storey car park in Stevenage town centre yesterday (Monday).

The ambulance service was called to the rear of the car park in St George's Way shortly before 2.30pm after receiving a call to a woman in her 60s who was believed to have fallen from the roof.

Police and ambulance personnel gave first aid at the scene but the woman died shortly after arriving at Lister Hospital.

Gary Sanderson, spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service who attended the incident, said: "On our arrival police officers were already performing basic life support on the woman. Paramedics and emergency medical technicians quickly stabilised her before conveying her to an awaiting trauma team at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage.
