A police dog hunting offenders who fled from officers near Ashwell last night uncovered items linking those responsible to the crime.

PD Dexter was deployed after a reports came in at about 10.30pm of men trying door handles of cars in New Road, Guilden Morden.

A Cambs police spokeswoman said: “Officers attended however they made off in a 4x4 vehicle. The offenders decamped in Ashwell Road and headed into Ashwell.

“The dog unit and helicopter were both deployed however the offenders were not located. PD Dexter did recover some clothing.”

BCH Police Dogs said on Twitter: “Due to travelling time Dexter didn’t catch up with the offenders. Dexter did locate discarded items which will link them to the crime so they can expect a visit soon.”
