A PCSO from Stevenage has pleaded guilty to laundering cash from a brothel run by his wife in the town.

Sean Griffin, 44, of York Road, Stevenage, a former officer with a safer neighbourhood team in Enfield, pleaded guilty to the charge at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday. He denied a second charge of running a brothel. The judge allowed this charge to lie on file.

Griffin’s wife Debbie, also 44, pleaded guilty to charges of running a brothel in a flat in Brent Court, Silam Road, Stevenage and money laundering.

At an earlier hearing which could not be legally reported until now, Stevenage magistrates heard how Mrs Griffin was found with another woman and four clients when police raided the Brent Court flat, rented by Mr Griffin, in the afternoon of July 21 last year.

In a simultaneous raid on the couple’s home address, officers found Mrs Griffin’s diaries going back four years with evidence that the flat had been used as a brothel since January 1 2006.

The pair will be sentenced at Cambridge on March 18.
