New measures to address parking congestion around Stevenage’s Lister Hospital will come into effect today.

New and existing parking bays on Coreys Mill Lane and North Road will become pay and display, blue badge holders will no longer be able to park on double yellow lines.

There will be yellow lines in some neighbouring residential streets too, including Tates Way, Chancellors Road, Herne Road and The Old Walled Garden.

Councillor Ralph Raynor, executive member for economy, enterprise and transport at Stevenage Borough Council, said: “We’ve seen an increase in traffic complaints since the expansion of the Lister Hospital started and there has been a significant amount of inconsiderate and potentially dangerous parking in and around Coreys Mill Lane.

“Local residents asked for a solution to the parking problems so we consulted with them to find ways of easing their concerns. We will stay in contact with the residents to make sure we are making the streets as obstruction free and safe as possible.”
