A TEACHER has returned from Peru where he witnessed first hand the work being done to help people with disabilities.

Paul Turner, teacher at Round Diamond Primary School in Stevenage, supports the Shalom Centre in Arequipa, Peru.

He said: "Shalom provides support for children and young adults with disabilities. The care and practical help that staff provide is amazing, it is making a real difference to the lives of many individuals."

Shalom relies on the generosity of individuals and groups so Paul has decided to run this year's London Marathon for the centre as well as for UK charity Whizz-Kidz.

Paul said: "As someone who was born and lived in Peru until the age of 16 and has spent the last few years as a teacher in the UK, it is fantastic to be able to support two charities in both countries that I call home."
