STAFF held a children's party to launch a store's official charity for the year.
Woolworths, on the High Street in Hitchin, is supporting the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust's Building Blocks appeal which aims to raise money for new equipment, facilities and services for Lister's neonatal and children's wards and children's A&E.
Face painters, a magician and staff in fancy dress entertained school children who took part in competitions and found out all about the care young patients receive at Lister.
Building Blocks fundraiser Suzanne Roynon said: "It was a fun and positive event. Staff have been marvellous, doing something special for a charity which will truly benefit local children."
As part of the appeal, moneyboxes are available at the checkouts in Hitchin's Wool-worths.
The idea is simple - just take a moneybox, fill it up and hand it back. In return, customers will receive a scratchcard with a chance to win a range of great prizes.
