Pair robbed at knifepoint in Hitchin

A man and a woman have been robbed at knifepoint in Hitchin by two hooded men.

The victims were sat on a bench in Ransome’s Recreation ground, just off Nightingale Road, on Sunday when two men approached them at around 11.45pm.

The men pulled out two knives, which have been described by the victims as kitchen knives, and demanded money.

The male victim aged 23 tried to run off, but was chased by one of the offenders, who made off with a small amount of cash.

Both men have been described by police as being between 20 and 40 years old, of medium build and between 5ft 9inch to 11inch tall.

The first offender was wearing a faded burgundy hooded top, jeans and trainers.

The second offender was wearing a dark grey hooded top, jeans and trainers.
