The weather and the excitement are hotting up ahead of tonight’s Pearl Izumi Tour Series cycle challenge which will see cyclists race around Stevenage’s Old Town in an attempt to beat the clock.

Crews have been setting up an impressive looking start and finish line all day in High Street, and at 4.30pm under 16s will get the chance to try out the course for themselves.

Adults can have a go peddling around the track at 5pm before the competitors hit the time trial circuit from 6.30pm.

And what better way to represent the town than Stevenage Borough Council’s very own press officer Michael Hann, who has been asked by the council to don a Lycra suit and try to set a decent time for Stevenage – Michael told the Comet this afternoon he has not ridden a bike for years, so please give him your support! Stevenage mayor, councillor John Lloyd, will hand out the winners’ medals for the men’s and women’s races at 10pm and the High Street and Church Lane will remain closed until midnight.

It promises to be quite a night!
