A RADIO station came to the rescue after a guess-how-many-balls-are-in-the-car competition left 100 footballs without a home.

Run by Eden Bridge Toyota in Letchworth GC, people had to guess how many footballs were in a car and, if correct, could keep the car for a month.

However, once the competition had been won, the company faced a problem - what were they going to do with the 100 footballs from the car?

In the end they teamed up with Heartbeat FM which announced on the radio that if a football team could call in and explain why they deserved 10 of the footballs they could keep them.

Interest in the competition rapidly grew and all kinds of different groups came forward, including scouts and a charity supporting children in Poland.

The sets of balls were then given to the winning 10 groups at Stevenage Boro Football Club in a presentation.

However, one team got so excited they left their footballs at the stadium and will have to go back to Eden Bridge Toyota to collect them.
