OLYMPIC sprint cycling gold medallist Victoria Pendleton inhales the aroma of a rose to commemorate her success at the Beijing Games last year at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London yesterday (Monday).

Victoria, 28, travelled to the show from her Stotfold home with her mother Pauline for the unveiling of the Victoria Pendleton Rose grown by Harkness Roses at their headquarters in Cambridge Road, Hitchin.

"I hadn't seen it before yesterday and it is beautiful," said Victoria.

"There is a slight hint of orange on the petals and I just loved being at the show and having the rose named after me. It is a great honour."

John Harkness, a director of Harkness Roses said: "Victoria was very pleased with the rose and bringing her gold medal with her certainly made the day and attracted a lot of attention.
