Police are dealing with an incident in St Ippolyts involving an alleged assault.

Officers are at the scene in a village near Hitchin after an alleged assault.

Police said they were called at 10.25am to reports of an incident involving two people in St Ippolyts’ Stevenage Road, where a man was alleged to have assaulted another man.

“Officers are currently at the scene dealing with the incident,” a Herts police spokeswoman said.

It was suggested on social media that a waste collector had been run over, but the spokeswoman said the incident was not a traffic collision.
