Steve Saunders and Eddie Asquith went on to represent the Hitchin-based club in Cranfield against 15 other area winners in a divisional contest run by Toastmasters International, an educational organisation aiming to help people improve their public speaking and leadership.

North Herts Speakers president Wojciech Zujla said: “This is the first time either Eddie or Steve have taken part in the area contest and we are thrilled that they have both won.

“North Herts Speakers is a very friendly environment for people who would like to become more confident speakers. Whether you have a wedding speech coming up, a presentation at work, or if just want to become more confident, Toastmasters can really help.”

The club meets each first and third Wednesday at The Sun Hotel in Hitchin. Guests can attend three times before deciding whether to join.
