North Herts District councillors last night rubber stamped a 1.5 per cent rise in council tax at a meeting of the full council in Letchworth GC.
The rise will see the tax on a Band D property go up by 6p a week to �3.78 from April.
Terry Hone the portfolio holder for finance said the rise was necessary to help make up a budgetary shortfall of more than �1m this year.
