The Fun at the Farm event, put on free of charge by North Herts College each year, saw childcare students lead children aged two to seven in activites like planting sunflower seeds, which the kids could take home with them .

And performing arts learners from the college gave an opening and closing show as part of their children’s theatre project.

College careers deputy head Lauren Bartley said the students had done so well that Standalone Farm had offered to have them back for work experience.

Childhood studies students Annabel Underwood and Helen Fredericks were among the youngsters who took part on Friday last week.

Annabel said: “I’m glad I came. It was very lovely to help the children. I want to come back.”
