Lister Hospital has been given the all-clear of suspected Norovirus as two wards reopened to admissions.

Managers at the Stevenage site closed the wards earlier this month, but confirmed on Wednesday that the infection which causes vomiting and diarrhoea had been eradicated.

The East and North Herts NHS Trust asked visitors to remain vigilant for the condition and not to come to the hospital if you are suffering from the symptoms.

“The advice is simple –stay at home and don’t visit until the last episode of vomiting and or diarrhoea was three days ago. if you feel you need medical help yourself, phone your GP or NHS Direct. Please don’t come in to A&E unless you are advised to do so by a medical professional,” a spokesman said.
