The "none of the above" campaign has been going full swing for several weeks now but the whole team were out in force on Saturday in the Old Town, Town Centre and the Hyde. The interest in the campaign has been overwhelming, far exceeding any of our initial expectations. However, one question keeps coming up, because I have not fully explained it on the leaflets; "what happens if none of the above gains the majority vote?" Firstly, this is only likely to happen in a situation where there is a serious breakdown of trust between our politicians and the public... umm like right now! Should it be the majority vote then it will cause an immediate and automatic by-election. In that by-election either the candidates must change or their policies or a bit of both until there is something that the majority can credibly vote for. Ultimately at the end of the process someone will be elected to represent the constituency but not necessarily any of the original candidates. Please also note that I will work fervently as an Independent for all other issues without any party politics swaying the view of Stevenage constituents.
