RAG – Raising and Giving – week is celebrated up and down the country by colleges and universities, and encourages students to get involved in various fundraising activities.

Thousands of charities, both national and international, benefit from RAG week each year. This year the Student Union Executive Committee at NHC has chosen to raise for Médecins Sans Frontières, also known as Doctors Without Borders, and raised a total of £251.

Activities took place at NHC’s Hitchin, Stevenage and Engineering & Construction Campuses and included a pool tournament, henna design, Haribo pong, guess the number of sweets in the jar, name the rabbit and a wheel of fortune, rounding the week off with Onesie Day on Friday.

Martha Chapman, a level 3 theatrical make up student who took part in RAG week by offering up her henna design skills, said: “This is such a great event to get involved with for students, it allows them to have a bit of fun during their break time while raising money for charity. It also gave me the opportunity to practice my henna skills, which has been really popular.”
