Stevenage captain Jon Ashton did not break his leg last weekend against Port Vale as was first feared.
The 31-year-old central defender was forced off the pitch during Saturday’s 2-2 draw when he collided with goalkeeper Chris Day
Boro boss Graham Westley, he said: “There is the outside chance [he could play on Saturday against Sheffield United], the injury wasn’t the break that was feared.
“It was a very heavy impact injury, I think because of the sensations he was getting the medical team suspected the worst at first, but I think it must have been a bang right on the nerve.
“I’d be surprised if he plays, but you never know with him.”
