INDUSTRIAL rockers Nine Inch Nails have been confirmed for this summer's Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth House.

Organisers officially announced the fourth wave of bands for the rock event at the Hertfordshire stately home this morning (Monday).

Australian AC/DC-like hard rockers Airbourne, New York thrash metal act Anthrax and influential gothic rock outfit Killing Joke were also announced by organisers this morning for the two-day camping event on August 1-2.

Nu-metal rap group Linkin Park and heavy metal gods Metallica will headline the event, and other confirmed acts are Alice in Chains, Bullet for my Valentine, Thin Lizzy, Machine Head, The Sword, Mastadon, Lamb of God and Avenged Sevenfold.

Metal legend and Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian is delighted to be playing the Knebworth festival.

"We are really excited to be making our only UK appearance at Sonisphere," he said.

"We've been anticipating our return to the UK and we are honoured to be a part of this amazing line-up.

"It's also going to be Anthrax lead vocalist Dan Nelson's first UK gig, and what better way to show him off than on this show?

"Leave it to Metallica to create what I will wager is going to be the festival of the year.

"See you at Sonisphere and get ready for a full-on Anthrax attack!
