ROSIE, George, Ruby and Eve gave their parents a great start to the New Year when they were born at Lister Hospital on January 1.

Sasha and David Deller were the first parents to be celebrating when their second child Rosie Audrey Deller was born at 1.56pm weighing 5lb 10oz.

The couple, from Icknield Way East in Baldock, already have a daughter Mollie aged 20 months.

George Lee Ellis Redmond was born at 3.47pm weighing 8lb 6oz. George is Joanne Ellis and Lee Redmond's second child - a brother for three-year-old Natalie.

Lee, of Grace Way, Stevenage, told The Comet: "George was actually due on December 29. To have a New Year's baby is a wonderful feeling. What better way to start the year."

Ruby Baker was next to be born at 4.46pm to Angela and Dan Baker of Brixham Close, Stevenage.

Angela said: "It is the perfect present. It was a shock as she was two weeks early but Ruby is doing well."

Ruby's sister Lauren, who is four, is enjoying the addition to the family.

Angela said: "She is loving having a new sister. She is like a mini mum. She has a doll and a pram the same as mine and she is copying what I am doing."

Having a New Year's Day baby was also a complete shock for Mary and Stephen King, from Chepstow Close in Stevenage, as Mary was due to give birth on January 24.

But because of complications Eve had to be delivered early.

Dad Stephen said: "We weren't expecting a New Year's Day baby but it is a lovely surprise. Despite being early, Eve, at seven pounds eight ounces, is a good weight and Mary is doing well."

Eve is a sister for Alice aged 15 months.
