Clothing, food and toiletries were donated to those in need this new year by a slimming club.
Slimming World members donated clothes, towels, blankets and toiletries to The Haven Shelter, Stevenage, and gave over 100 tins to the Stevenage Community Food Bank.
Stevenage Community Food Bank provides temporary relief for people who cannot afford to buy their weekly shopping and the Haven Shelter is an 18 bed emergency hostel for homeless people.
Karen Crow, who runs the group, said: “We decided as a group we would like to help people less fortunate than ourselves at this time of year.
“My members took to their cupboards and brought in tinned foods, packet foods and some treats for the Stevenage Community Food Bank.
“We also collected towels, blankets, single duvet sets and toiletries for The Haven Shelter in Stevenage.”
The group meets on Mondays at 7.30pm at Pin Green Community Centre, Stevenage and Thursday’s at 5.30pm and 7.30pm at St John’s Road Community Centre, Hitchin. For details call Karen on 07584 496304.
