YOUNG learners will get a chance to become magazine journalists after being given their own publication to work on.

Learners working with JHP Training in Southgate House, Stevenage, are working on fashion, sports and real life articles.

The training centre gives young people aged between 16 and 22, who are not in employment, a chance to learn basic skills and take part in other projects.

Frank Radcliffe, a basic skills tutor, said: "We want to give young people who are unemployed the motivation and skills to find employment. We want to give them confidence. It is a big issue in Stevenage. We want to target those who left school and didn't go on to college or university.

"The magazine will feature articles of interest to young people. We will leave the content to them but we hope to use it as a promotional tool."
