A woodland-themed mural has been unveiled on the children’s ward at Stevenage’s Lister Hospital, to help young patients to have a more welcoming experience.
The Bluebell ward project, led by the East and North Herts NHS Trust’s health play specialist team, was funded jointly by the East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity and Rays of Sunshine - a national charity aimed at brightening the lives of children living with serious illnesses.
Children’s nursing services manager, Caroline Dilks, said: “For a child, coming into hospital can sometimes be a frightening experience and it’s important we make our children’s wards a welcoming environment for younger people. This is why our health play specialist team has led on this project to bring some colour and creativity to the Lister’s Bluebell ward.”
She added: “We’re extremely grateful to those who donated for funding the mural.”
