A NEW bishop has been appointed for the Stevenage ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Nathaniel Chell, who lives in Knebworth with his wife, Alexandra, and their two children, two-year-old Joseph and five-month-old Jacob, has taken up the position at the Buckthorne Avenue chapel.
Mr Chell, who works in IT, served a two-year mission for the church in the Leeds area from 1998 to 2000. He is a fourth generation member of the Stevenage ward. The 30-year-old said: "I feel very humbled to have been called."
Appointed to serve alongside Bishop Chell as First Counsellor is Andy Garnham, a 33-year-old from Stevenage. He said: "I am looking forward to working together to help the church in Stevenage serve the needs of the local community."
The Second Counsellor is 67-year-old Oswald Harris from Stevenage. He said "I am over the moon to be called to this position and am looking forward to working as part of such a great team in encouraging the members in all they do, and in participating in temple work - which is such great work.
