Detectives are appealing for further information following a masked robbery at a jewellery shop in Hitchin
On Friday at 5 pm the Glenray Jewellers on Market place was robbed by two men wearing balaclavas who threatened staff with a sledgehammer before making off with jewellery.
The men got away in a black Vauxhall Vectra which was later found abandoned on Old Charlton Road in the town.
Detectives now want to speak to anyone who may have information about a white van which they believe the robbers used after abandoning the Vauxhall.
Detective Sergeant Gerard Ellis, from Stevenage CID, said: "We are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen a white van with two Ls in the registration number around the Old Charlton Road or Wratten Close area at the time of the incident.
"If anyone saw a white van in that area prior to, or just after the incident, or saw any men acting suspiciously we would like to hear from them."
He urged anyone with information to contact 0845 33 00 222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
