NEIGHBOURHOOD Watch in Baldock will have eight new watches following a successful recruitment drive in the town.

Police officers and police community support officers (PCSOs) from the Baldock neighbourhood team, along with representatives from the Hertfordshire Constabulary's crime prevention panel, held the event in the High Street.

Twelve new members signed up in total, with eight of those living in areas where a watch did not already exist.

PCSO Chris Nash from the neighbourhood team said: "Neighbourhood Watch is extremely beneficial in helping to keep crime and anti-social behaviour down.

"I am very pleased that we had more people sign up to Neighbourhood Watch in Baldock, particularly in the areas where a watch doesn't currently exist.

"Some excellent work is already being done by our existing Neighbourhood Watch members but we always welcome new members.

"Neighbourhood Watch is extremely beneficial to our communities. It brings people together as well as helping to keep crime and anti-social behaviour down.
