Have you ever tried to report an incident of vandalism to the police control room only to be told that you could not have a Unique Reference Number (URN)? Did you know that without this the police have no record of incidents of crime or vandalism? Vandalism is the pointless destruction of property and it always has an affect , whether on the property owner who must replace or repair the damage, the neighbours and passers-by who look at the destruction and ultimately on everyone's purses because insurance rates and council tax rises. In order to control the incidences, it needs to be identified that they are happening. Remember, first call the police Control Room on 01234 841212. If you are not given a URN, please call the Town Clerk, Geoff Barham on 01462 816321 or email him at towncouncil@sheffordtown.co.uk in order to notify him of an incident not logged. We must have an accurate picture of what is happening in Shefford. For information about Neighbourhood Watch, please contact Kay Farris on 01462 811738
