THE National Lottery has revealed that a Comet country postcode is the third luckiest in the country.

The SG postcode is behind only Bournemouth and Falkirk in the number of major prizes won in the last two years.

Since the National Lottery’s launch in 1994, 14 millionaires have been created in the area and 164 have won prizes of at least £50,000.

To mark the announcement, Stevenage mayor John Lloyd was presented with a special plaque by Baldock resident John Baxter, who scooped £1m in the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle in January.

Cllr Lloyd said: “As a resident of Stevenage for 40 years I have seen the town develop into the thriving vibrant hub that it is today and feel very lucky to live here.

“It seems this luck has also rubbed off on National Lottery players in the area and I am delighted to receive the plaque, confirming what many of us Stevenage residents already know, officially declaring Stevenage as a lucky postcode.”

A National Lottery spokesman added: “Congratulations to the people of Stevenage, they live in the third luckiest postcode in the UK.

“Around 30 major prizes are won each week, and with more than 3,200 National Lottery millionaires across the UK, nearly everyone will have a lucky winner in their neighbourhood.
