Is amongst the doughty Knebworthians determined to bring us some cheerfulness. She plans a one day Autumn Music Festival on Saturday, November 11 in aid of Chrysalis School for Autism. The day sounds off with "A Programme of Premieres" at 3pm, featuring the results of a "Composeathon" in which Sam's 3-10 year old pupils sponsored her to write a piece for each of them. They will also be playing prize-winning entries from the European Piano Teachers' Association composing competition. These include Sam's own prize winning piece - first in the UK Teachers' class and that of pupil Sophie Brouat, first in the under-10s. Sophie was just seven when she composed it. Sophie and Sam travelled to Trinity Music College London to play their pieces at a prize winners Concert at the end of October, but you need travel no further than Trinity Church, Knebworth to hear them. What is more, the concert is free, although there is a retiring collection for Chrysalis. In the evening, at 7.45pm, Mosaic, a chamber choir from Surrey, present a sparkling evening of musical entertainment, tickets £8, on sale at Trussells family Butcher nominated, as regular readers will know, as rural food retailer of the year.
