A Stevenage mum has said a big thank you to medical staff at Lister Hospital who helped save her baby daughter.

Katie Sheehan, 23, of Meredith Road went back to the hospital’s Special Baby Care Unit with her daughter Josie on Tuesday to give staff a cheque for 500, raised through a race night and buffet with friends,

to help the unit save more babies.

Josie suffered severe brain damage due to complications at birth and was not given long to live, but with the help of staff pulled through and is getting stronger every day.

Katie said: “Thanks to the team and their hard work Josie is now 16 weeks old, at home, and is fighting the odds. We are still unsure of future disabilities, but we are lucky to have her!”
