Despite the cold snap at the weekend, more than 600 runners turned out for Garden House Hospice Care’s annual Muddy Mayhem race in Knebworth on Saturday.
Temperatures dipped to -2°C as participants braved wet and muddy obstacles to raise funds for the Letchworth-based hospice.
The 5k course was adjusted slightly due to the conditions, though most runners still chose to go through the majority of the obstacles.
The hospice’s event manager Sophie Bottazzi said: “We would like to thank all those who took part in the event on Saturday, their supporters and sponsors, and also to our many volunteers and local army cadets who enabled the event to take place.
“The conditions were challenging for everyone though the spirit on the day was amazing.
“Money from this event will go towards our wide range of services for patients, their carers, and families facing a life limiting illness – every pound raised will help.”
