A Comet country MP has warned people about several websites misleading people to pay more money than they would otherwise.
North East Herts MP Oliver Heald warned people about the websites that offer to help people access government services e.g. renewing their driving licences, and then charge them for the service.
Mr Heald said his office had received several phone calls from residents in the past week alerting him about the matter and is warning people to be vigilant.
He said: “There is nothing illegal about companies setting up websites to offer assistance in accessing Government services, so long as they make clear that they are not an official Government website. However, people can be misled and I would urge all constituents to make a note that official Government business should only be conducted through the Government websites.”
If you wish to access any government service visit www.gov.uk and then follow the relevant departmental links.
