A COMET country MP has been recovering in hospital after doctors dangerously misdiagnosed his illness for ten days.

Peter Lilley, Conservative member for Hitchin and Harpenden, began feeling ill two weeks ago, and was originally diagnosed with swine flu. But after the illness persisted, returned to doctors who correctly diagnosed a case of appendicitis. If untreated the condition can be fatal.

The 66-year-old former minister said he has been continuing to follow political developments "very closely" from hospital.
