AMIDST the controversy surrounding levels of hygiene in Comet country hospitals and the management of health service finances, an MP has paid tribute to NHS staff.

North East Herts MP Oliver Heald said: "I would like to pay tribute to the hardworking NHS doctors, nurses and other staff in our area.

"I often highlight the financial difficulties and problems in our NHS locally and will continue to do so.

"However, we should never forget how much we owe to those who dedicate their lives to helping patients."

Mr Heald also visited NHS facilities in his constituency - meeting with Dr Raj Chand, a GP practising in Letchworth.
