An MP was on hand to take part in a topping out ceremony to mark the final phase of a £6.7 million project to build a 75-bed care home in Letchworth.
The home – which is called Garden City Court and should open in October – will include a specially designed living space for people with dementia.
Built on a brownfield site formerly occupied by Lannock School on Whiteway, the part three-storey Quantum Care facility will replace Freeman House in Letchworth and Minsden Care Home in Hitchin.
After performing the topping out ceremony, North East Herts MP Sir Oliver Heald said: “This is a fantastic facility for older people in the area. I congratulate Quantum Care and Hertfordshire County Council on this state-of-the-art facility for older people and those living with dementia.”
