STEVENAGE MP Barbara Follett has launched her annual Christmas card competition.

This year it will be the pupils of Martins Wood Primary School, Stevenage, who will help design the MP's festive card and headteacher Tom Evans unveiled the competition on Friday to pupils.

The 2009 card must feature the House of Commons or Big Ben in a Christmas setting. She will then choose an overall winner.

Mr Evans said: "The children are delighted to have the opportunity to design a Christmas card for Barbara and even though Christmas is still a few months away they have thrown themselves into the challenge with great enthusiasm."

Mrs Follett added: "Each year I am tremendously impressed by the talent of pupils in Stevenage and I am looking forward to seeing this year's entries."

The MP chooses a school in Stevenage to design her and her husband, Ken's Christmas card for the year, which will be sent to over 2,500 of their friends and family across the world - including the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.
