A POLICE anti-drugs initiative has been backed by North East Herts MP Oliver Heald.
He attended the local launch of the National Tackling Drugs Campaign.
Chief Inspector Geoff Camp showed him a presentation of recent drugs raids in his constituency and Mr Heald was able to meet drug prevention workers and volunteers in Hitchin Market Place.
Mr Heald, who also had the opportunity to talk with Chief Supt Al Thomas, said: "Drug abuse causes crime and damages the health of abusers. It is particularly dangerous to mental health.
"I am delighted that North Hertfordshire has its own local plan as part of the National Tackling Drugs Campaign and I wish them every success in trying to curb this menace.
