A MOTORCYCLIST is fighting for his life following a road traffic collision in the early hours of this morning (Friday).

Paramedics and police were called to the junction of Grace Way and Martins Way in Stevenage at 1.07am to a report of a man who had come off a motorbike.

Ambulance service spokesman, Gary Sanderson, said: "On arrival, a man was found in a critical condition. Paramedics worked extremely hard to treat and stabilise him on the roadside before conveying him to an awaiting trauma team at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage."

The motorcyclist, believed to be 19 and from Stevenage, has since been transferred to a specialist head injury unit at the Royal Free Hospital in London.

No other vehicle was involved in the crash.
