The Pirton Environmental Action Plan (PEAP) group is involved in a number of projects within and around the village. There has been much activity on the recreation ground as the existing horse chestnut trees are in poor condition; the problem is horse chestnut bleeding canker, which is caused by two species of the fungus. Through generous funding from NHDC, the Pirton Pumpkin club and Biffaward, walnut trees have been purchased and planted to fill in the gaps between existing trees.
