OVER the last fortnight readers have inundated us with their stories and gripes about the worst roads in Comet country.

This week we highlight three more areas which have sent our readers into a spin.

Peter Brown, of Benslow Rise, Hitchin, had a letter published in The Comet in March last year where he criticised the state of his road.

He has since been in touch with councillors and Hertfordshire County Council but the road continues to deteriorate.

He said: "The whole thing is falling apart. It is hazardous to cyclists and there is grass growing in the holes in the road.

"You can actually hear how far a vehicle is down the road by the constant bumping noises it makes on the surface."

Another reader, Vicky Carlton, would like to challenge anyone to find a worse road than Mullway in Letchworth GC.

She said: "The road is a nightmare to drive along. The uneven surface and holes pull the car in different directions and because it is quite a narrow road with cars parked along most of it, it can sometimes be a close call when the car is suddenly jerked to one side.

"I find it unbelievable how money and time can be wasted on constantly filling the numerous potholes, when even to an untrained eye it is obvious the whole road needs resurfacing."

Finally, The Grange in Letchworth GC seems to have aggravated a number of our readers with several roads coming under close scrutiny, two of which are Pelican Way and Eastern Way.

Kenneth Walters, a Grange resident, said the former was "peeling away" and said he had "had problems with all of the bumps on that road".
