IMPROVED facilities will bring a whole new range of recreational opportunities to one community in Comet country.

The Grange area in Letchworth GC currently suffers from a shortage of play areas and a new scheme developed by North Herts District Council and North Herts Homes hopes to address the problem.

At Gaunts Way Recreation Ground, the project will see a new football-changing pavilion, re-establishment of a skate park, a full-sized basketball court and additional equipment in the play area.

A community park will also be developed in the centre of the Grange Estate, between the Grange central shops and the Baptist Church.

The plan is to create a range of leisure facilities for both children and youths in the community.

At this early stage, it is estimated that the scheme at Grange Central will cost around £300,000 but more detailed figures will be available after a consultation exercise.
