Motorists were facing Monday morning misery on the A1 today with slow moving traffic and congestion around junction 7 at Stevenage southbound and further south in the Hatfield Tunnel as well as junctions 4 and 3.

On the A1 in Greater London on the Barnet by-pass there is queuing traffic between Stirling Corner and the Watford by-pass in Borehamwood.

Police also report heavy traffic on the M1 between Toddington Services and junction 11 Dunstable.
