TWO LADIES from Comet country will be battling it out this evening (Thursday) to become Miss England 2006.

Hayley Kruse, 17, from Stotfold, and 20-year-old Stacey Gore, from Baldock, were recently named Miss Hertfordshire and Miss Milton Keynes and will both be in Leicester this evening and tomorrow evening to try to win the national title.

Miss Kruse qualified for Miss Hertfordshire because she goes to school in the county - Knights Templar School, Baldock - and she won her county event in May at the Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage. Miss Gore won her regional heat back in January. She is a dental student studying at Kings College in London and lives in Chilvers Bank.

She said she was "looking forward" to the Miss England competition. I'm really excited now. I've got everything organised so I feel a bit more prepared.
